“Liz and I first met when we were both asked to play in a random spring soccer game against Stetson University (Liz’s alma mater). In the second half of the game, Liz was playing in goal and I was playing left defense. Liz didn’t know what my name was, as she had only met my sister prior to that day. She asked if it was ok if she called me Jen (my sister’s name) so it would be easier for her. She was trying to be courteous, but I was used to it so I just went with it. Our interaction the rest of that night was very sporadic and casual…soccer related. She called me Jen the entire night. Approximately 2 years later, we met again, on another soccer field. This time she knew my name! The rest is history.
Liz picked up the ring on the afternoon of 5/16/2014. She was nervous and afraid she was going to lose the ring, so she knew she was going to propose that night. When I got home from work, I laid down on the couch to rest for a few minutes prior to getting ready for a soccer game. Liz was already sitting on one of the couches, so I laid down on the other couch. After getting comfortable, Liz got down on one knee and popped to question. I was in complete shock! We had talked about getting married, but I had no idea she was going to propose so soon. The proposal was short, sweet and intimate…perfect!”
