“When Patrick and Daniel were planning their wedding day, they were overwhelmed with the details that went into trying to plan a huge party. Ultimately, they decided to share their day with only their closest friends and family. They had an intimate ceremony and dinner reception at the Fairmont Chicago.
The getting ready photos took place in the Presidential Suite which is the exact room Barak Obama was in when he heard he won the election and would become president. The ceremony took place in the Regent Room where the family gathered in a circle around the grooms, rather than the familiar rows.
Patrick’s cousin, Laura (also LGBT), officiated the ceremony. When the men entered the room, they brought their mothers flowers and went around the room to greet their guests before the ceremony began. Before the rings were presented, the grooms’ mothers brought the rings around the room for each guest to “bless” or “give well wishes”.
The evening concluded with a candlelight dinner in the Fairmont’s Embassy room, where family and friends were invited to give speeches if they wished.”
